RULES OF PLAY:
1. The playing boards used during ATC Tournament are provided or approved by the Alpenlite Travel Club.
The playing boards are placed eight (8) feet apart.
Players must stand with both feet completely on the board surface while making a toss.
Toes of player’s shoes are not to extend beyond the front edge of the board.
2. Each turn, each player has 3 washers to toss.
Each 3 washer set will have a distinctive mark or color to distinguish between washer sets for each player.
3. Players will flip a coin for first toss and commence play.
The same player will continue to toss first until a score occurs.
Thereafter, the last player to score during a turn will throw first for the next round.
4. SCORING:
a) Washers in the closest of the three holes will each score one (1) point.
b) Washers in the middle of the three holes will each score three (3) points.
c) Washers in the farthest of the three holes will each score five (5) points.
5. To score, the washer must be completely in the hole,
touching the bottom surface or touching other washers already in the hole.
6. An opponent’s score may be cancelled, on a one-for-one basis,
by hitting the same hole during the same turn...in which case neither washer scores.
If a 3rd washer is tossed into the same hole it would be scored as in #4.
7. Any washer in a hole scores for the player whose color or mark is on it...
even if the opponent has inadvertently knocked it in.
8. All three washers must be tossed during every turn, except as noted in 8 b).
To win, a player must score EXACTLY twenty-one (21) points.
If player reaches twenty-one (21) points before tossing all 3 washers,
the remaining washers must be tossed, each of which must hit the board surface (not the edge).
(Opponent must also toss his/her washers.) However, the OPPONENT WINS if the player that reached twenty-one:
a) Fails to hit the board surface with any of the remaining washers, or
b) Inadvertently scores over twenty-one (21) points, at
which time play stops even if opponent has not tossed his/her washers.
9. If there is a twenty-one (21) to twenty-one (21) tie, the game continues
following the rules outlined above with both players throwing 3 washers each turn, until the tie is broken.
10. All participants in the scheduled tournament must present themselves to the
starter’s table within thirty (30) minutes of the starting time or they are eliminated from play.
